Every grade starts with the first Layer
A sleeve is the only thing that ever ouches your card — everything else just protects the sleeve. Grade Saver Pro sleeves are cut from ultra-clear, archival polypropylene: Inner Card Sleeves in 40 µm film that hugs the card like a second skin (perfect fit for double sleeving), Base Card Sleeves in 60 µm film as the everyday standard (the community calls them penny sleeves — ours are just built tighter), and Pull Tab Card Sleeves with a die-cut tab that lifts the card free from a toploader in one motion. No tweezers, no prayers. Every format is independently tested for acid, PVC and lignin, and sized to the micron for the next layer: inner into base, base into toploader — no bunching.

Why do grading services ask for semi rigid holders instead of toploaders?
Because a semi rigid holder lets a grader remove the card without touching it. A toploader grips the card too tightly to slide out safely, so it usually has to be cut open, and that puts the corners and edges the grade depends on at risk. A semi rigid card shield flexes just enough for safe removal and springs back flat, which means it protects in transit and stays practical on arrival. Toploaders are built for storage, display and shipping between collectors. Semi rigids are built for submission. Sending a card to grading in a toploader is the single most common reason a submission gets held up
What size do I need for standard cards?
Both shields are made for standard-size cards, 63.5 x 88.9 mm. That covers Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering, Lorcana, One Piece and standard sports cards, sleeved or unsleeved. The Toploader Card Shield measures 102 x 77 mm on the outside; the Semi Rigid Card Shield measures 126 x 85 mm, the deeper format that grading services specify for submissions. Neither format fits Japanese small-size cards.
Do I need a sleeve inside the toploader?
Yes, always sleeve the card first. A bare card sliding against rigid plastic is the fastest way to pick up micro-scratches and edge whitening, and the damage happens on the way in and on the way out. A Base Card Sleeve or Pull Tab Card Sleeve underneath turns that into a clean glide, and an Inner Card Sleeve adds a second layer for high-value cards. The same rule applies to the Semi Rigid Card Shield: grading services expect the card to arrive sleeved
